Sue Kemp
Group Chair
Leading York Advanced Drivers and supporting our mission to improve road safety across York and North Yorkshire. Sue is a qualified Advanced and Masters Driver and oversees the group’s activities and development.
Ian Grant
Chief Observer
Ian oversees the quality and consistency of all observer training across the group, ensuring every associate gets the best possible experience on their journey to the Advanced Test and beyond.

How it works
Your journey to advanced driving

Join IAM RoadSmart
Sign up online and become an IAM RoadSmart associate member to access training.

Meet your observer
We match you with a qualified volunteer observer based in the York area.
3
Train together
Regular 1-to-1 observed drives on roads you already know, at your own pace.
4
Take the test
When you’re ready, your Observer will put you forward for the Advanced Test.
